This school in Singapore required a canopy for its swimming pool seating area that offered full protection from the tropical elements, without obstructing the view of the swimming pool.
The resulting structure developed by Structurflex provides all-weather shelter for pool spectators from the tropical elements. It provides shade while still permitting natural diffused light through, so the feeling is one of being in the open-air. Importantly, the structure reduces direct heat, with the white membranes reflecting approximately 80 percent of the heat providing a welcoming respite Singapore's hot climate.
The structure's unique cascading shape follows the contours of the grandstand seating while still ensuring unobstructed viewing of the swimming pool.
Structurflex once facilitated the entire process from design right through to installation. They were faced with a number of constraints including budget as well as complying with local building regulations. The resulting structure fully answered the brief and was manufactured and installed on time and within the budget.
